Parcel delivery in Israel: prepare the address, timing and handover

Prepare for the final delivery of a China-to-Israel parcel: verify recipient details, separate estimates from appointments, and record confirmed delivery changes.

Before final delivery, confirm the carrier, local tracking reference, full address, reachable recipient and handover preference. Treat an estimated date as an estimate, and an address or timing change as pending until the responsible carrier confirms it. Keep that confirmation with the shipment record.

The community question

A September 2026 r/israel_bm discussion asks why couriers call repeatedly despite written delivery instructions. Replies describe different preferences for advance calls and unattended handover, and questions about building access. This is a local delivery discussion, not a verified China-to-Israel shipment or an Israelepost customer case. It inspired this original preparation checklist; commenters’ accusations and assumptions about carrier obligations are not used as policy.

Connect the order to the carrier making the final delivery

Keep the purchase reference, international tracking number and any local delivery number together. Ask the sender or logistics contact which carrier is responsible for the final handover, particularly when the tracking page names another delivery partner. Check the recipient’s name, reachable telephone number, city, street, building number, apartment and postcode against the latest accepted shipping record. A change saved in a shopping account may not update a parcel already dispatched. If the records disagree, send the correction through the responsible party and ask which version the delivery team will use.

Separate an estimated delivery date from a confirmed appointment

Write down whether a date is a tracking estimate, a requested appointment or a carrier-confirmed delivery window. A request for Tuesday morning does not become an appointment merely because it appears in your notes. If timing matters, ask whether the selected service offers an appointment, how the window is confirmed, and whom to contact when the estimate changes. Record the date, local Israeli time and any conditions in the reply. Do not assume that a driver must telephone before arrival or can wait while someone travels to the address.

Make access instructions short, current and usable

Give the delivery team the details needed to find the agreed entrance: building name if useful, entrance identifier, floor, apartment and an intercom contact. Separate directions from handover permission. A note explaining where the entrance is does not authorize leaving the parcel outside it. Check that the person receiving the parcel knows the expected delivery and can answer the listed telephone. Share necessary access details only through the carrier’s verified channel; keep building codes out of public posts and reusable planning sheets. Remove obsolete instructions when an address changes.

Treat an address change as a request until it is accepted

Send the original address, proposed address, tracking reference and reason for the change to the responsible carrier or sender. Ask about eligibility, authorization, extra charges and the effect on delivery timing. FedEx’s Israel address-change FAQ describes restrictions, including sender limits, shipment status and possible fees; it does not make redirection universal. Keep the request number, submission time, response and effective address together. Until acceptance is confirmed, label the change pending. Avoid sending competing instructions to several contacts, and ask which instruction supersedes the earlier one if a second change is needed.

Choose an accepted alternative when nobody can be there

Ask which alternatives are available for this parcel: another date, an authorized recipient, a collection point or an alternative address. DHL’s Israel On Demand Delivery page illustrates several options, but the actual shipment must be eligible and the chosen arrangement confirmed. Do not turn a preference such as leave at the door into an assumed signature waiver. Ask about any identification, signature or authorization requirement before naming someone else. If delivery was already attempted, follow the carrier’s verified instructions and confirm the next location and deadline instead of assuming another attempt is automatic.

Close the record with the actual handover

After delivery, record the actual date, who accepted the parcel and whether the package count matches the shipment information. Retain the carrier’s delivery confirmation and note visible damage or missing pieces promptly using the evidence checklist. If tracking says delivered but the parcel is absent, check the agreed recipient or collection location and request available proof of delivery. FedEx’s Israel guidance points recipients to tracking and proof of delivery before reporting a missing parcel. Record a factual discrepancy, case reference and next follow-up date; do not infer theft from a status mismatch alone.

Use one handover record, and match it to the shipment type

Use the downloadable preparation sheet to keep the address check, requested arrangement, confirmation and next action in one place. For an Israelepost tracking enquiry, include the shipment reference and unresolved question so the team can identify the next step. Preparing or downloading this record does not book a delivery or change a carrier’s instructions. This checklist concerns parcel handover. Commercial pallets, machinery and container deliveries need a separate agreement on vehicle access, unloading equipment, receiving staff and any booked slot; a parcel collection or doorstep option does not establish those services.
